The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has given the green light to the Creative Leap Acceleration Programmer (CLAP)- a groundbreaking initiative set to transform Nigeria’s creative and cultural industries (CCI).
With the backing of the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism, and the Creative Economy (FMACTCE), CLAP is here to equip creatives with skills, resourecs, and opportunities to compete on a global scale.
What is CLAP?
CLAP is a national initiative designed to position Nigeria as a global leader in the creative economy. It provides structured training, mentorship, and funding to help creatives scale their careers. By establishing creative hubs across the country, CLAP creates an ecosytem where innovation thrives. This programme is not just about developing talent – it is about building a sustaintable creative industry that contributes to Nigeria’s economic growth.
How will CLAP work?
CLAP will run through a structured system that ensures sustainability and efficiency. A strong governannce framework will guide its development, while a public-private partnership model will drive resource management. Financial and operational aspects will be carefully overseen, with strategic collaborations supporting key areas legal frameworks, funding , and digital insfrastructure. This approach will crate an envieronment where creatives can grow, innovate, and succeed.
The Economic and Employment Impact
CLAP is set to drive economic transformation by contributing to Nigeria’s $100 billion crative industry goal. The programme will crate two million jobs by 2030 while strenthening Nigeria’s postion in film, music, fashion, gaming, and digital art. With 600 creative hubs nationawide, the industry is poised for unprecedented growth.
